No Triumph, All tragedy. Red Sox fan and college student, Victoria Snelgrove, was shot and killed by a Boston police officer using riot gear to fend off an out of control crowd.
On Oct 20, 2004, the Red Sox clinched the championship and were headed to the World Series after a tense series against the New York Yankees - our bitter rivals. We hadn’t won in 86 years thus perpetuating the "Curse of the Bambino". Despite the game being played in New York, people from all around flooded into the streets and headed to Fenway Park.
What should have been a grand celebration turned tragic when an unprepared police department pulled out riot gear to fend off swarms of revelers. A Boston police officer shot an innocent bystander - 21-year-old Emerson College student, Victoria Snelgrove - in the face.
Everything is lethal if you don't know what you're doing.
